Q: Should the mindset of the consumer be that if the Performance Devices crystals cost less, the quality is equally of less value?

A: No! WE ARE THE MANUFACTURER, with core product that serves high-end commercial and military market. Unlike our competitors that typically have multiple suppliers to draw from (based on best pricing at and delivery). An important note is the fact that we are an  ISO 9001 / 2000 compliant manufacturer with MIL-STD-790 manufacturing certification from the US Government AND Top-Secret clearance for specific military customers. Being the actual manufacturer, our costs are lower than any brand-named crystal on the market and we pass that through to the consumer!

Q: Hobby shops sell a 27Mhz surface crystal set between $8.95 and $12.95 and single RX crystals for air use sometimes over $35.00! What is the actual cost difference to manufacture a 27 or 75MHz FM crystal Vs a 25, 26 or 72MHz crystal?

A: About a dime! It's a shame that a few radio suppliers demand so much for their brand-name crystals. We believe that a radio manufacturer may make more profit on selling five RX crystals than they do on selling an average radio! In our opinion, that is NO WAY to treat a customer!

Q: Are not all crystal manufacturers the same?

A: Absolutely not! The following is a bit of detailed information:

1) We have an established track record in the manufacturing of the highest quality frequency devices for precision applications. For example, we manufacture crystals, crystal filters and oscillators that are used in extremely complex GPS navigation systems (for both commercial and Miltary applications), NAV/COM systems, Missile guideance systems, high-speed computer networking and satellite communication systems.

2) We have manufacturing facilities in the US, Europe and China.

3) We have US based manufacturing and test capabilities. This guarantees stringent quality practices.

Q: My radio vendor tells me that I must only use their crystals. Is this correct?

A: Absolutely not! There is no 'black magic' in developing a crystal, only in making a current one better. To protect their sales, the radio manufacturer's will always tell the consumer to use only their crystals. Each day, we convince more and more people that this is not true!

Q: What is the product guarantee of the Performance Devices crystal products?

A: Performance Devices guarantees our product to be defect free for the life. We will also replace our product free of charge if the equipment is destroyed as a result of a crash of the users car, boat or aircraft! All the user needs to do is to mail the damaged product back to Performance Devices with the original packaging and a photo of their damaged car, boat or aircraft.

Replacement is immediate. A $3.00 fee is required for UPS replacement shipping. The user will receive a follow-up report of the suspected damaged product.

Q: Are the 2.4GHz radios hurting your sales?

A: It has not helped, but there are still plenty of crystal based radios being produced by all of the major manufacturers. It is common that when a person buys a 2.4GHz radio, he or she will give or sell their old radio gear to (lets say) a friend that is getting into the sport. That alone creates new demand at the retail level for crystals, which is good! Also, our international business is very strong because most of the sythesized radios are fairly expensive for the average R/C enthusiast outside of the US.
